Give Way To Ambulance | Saving Lane
‘Give
Way to Ambulance Initiative by Saving Lane is set to create a wave of change.
Here’s Why.
“I was rushing my relative
to the hospital and got trapped in the traffic midway. The traffic congestion
was caused by two drivers orally fighting over whose fault it was, and didn’t
clear the way even though they heard the ambulance’s siren. Gratefully, some
people volunteered and tried clearing the traffic and we made it in time to the
hospital”.
There are numerous other
people who have had to go through such shocking experiences, with a lot of
people worsening to reach the hospital on-time. With the increasing traffic on
the Indian roads, ambulances quite often fall short of time.
This is why we have
decided to take matter in their own hands and launched the much-needed
multi-city wide ‘Give way to Ambulance ‘initiative. We want to follow a
different method to educating people on this initiative; we want to personally
reach out to each of them. So, this way, we should be able to educate at-least 100000
people and if we can stimulate these people to reach out to others to take initiate,
we will be creating a trend of change.
Around 1.4 Lakh people are killed each year in traffic accidents, which are about 400 mortalities a day. 2 out of 10 patients die in an ambulance before reaching the hospital in India. More than 50% of heart attack cases reach hospital late. The initial treatment to the patient in the very first hour, also referred to ‘Golden Hour’ is very critical. Particularly, in the case of suicides, stroke, heart attack, accident, it is vital that these patients accept medical aid within the first hour. The average time for an ambulance to reach hospital is going up each year due to increasing urban traffic congestion. Most commuters on the road notice the frantic ambulance sirens and their flashing lights. They sense that there is a life in danger however not many of them are able to empathize with the serious disorder and understand the importance of giving way to ambulances.
Kids are getting people
to sign pledges online that they will always give way to ambulance or an
emergency vehicle... They are also giving away car stickers to all so that it serves
as a continuous reminder to them to give way to the ambulance as well as pull
others attention to it.
Talking about the
campaign, we think that, “Give Way to Ambulance is one simple yet important
contribution in saving a human life. Children who are the future can easily
move the 'mountain' in the minds of people here. They would indeed make a
better influence”.
